Yet if you’re a true Sims lover you’ll know there can never be too many additions to the game – especially when it comes to stuff related to your characters or your home’s furnishings.

I’ve been quite attached to Sims 4 for a long time. But it originally took me a bit of getting used to after my original disappointment of the game not being open-world like The Sims 3(although hopefully Sims 5 gives it back).

To help with more decorating ideas I’ve organized these fantastic furniture mods that will improve the look of your dream home.

I haven’t prioritized any particular type of room on my list, as I wanted everyone that reads this to have plenty of options to choose from. So have fun and get decorating!

22. Lina Livingroom

I’m not sure what is it about this mod that makes it have such a “cozy” feeling, but I’m absolutely loving it.

I mean, I’ve never even had furniture like this in any of my homes, but adding to my game felt like the right thing to do.

It just gives you that 90s home vibe that used to be present in most older TV shows and missing from the vanilla Sims 4 game.

I know some of you don’t like including real-life brands to the game, so I’m just warning you that this mod has an LG DVD player as a decorative item.

21. Altara Kitchen Appliances

Modern kitchen appliances are something that’s surprisingly missing from The Sims 4.

But it won’t be for much longer after you’ve installed this fantastic mod.

I have to admit, I’m adding it to the list because I really like the way these types of appliances look. And I have similar appliances in my own real-life kitchen.

In any case, this mod adds one functional item(the coffee maker) and 10 decorative items that go a long way into turning your kitchen into a much more modern palace.

20. Pear SimMac

Apple computers are technically canon in The Sims 4.

But as any seasoned gamer will tell you, they’re actually called “Pear” instead of “Apple”.

With how witty that is, adding an Apple computer to the game wouldn’t make much sense at all.

So this modder took the game’s canon to heart and decided to add a Pear SimMac(the equivalent of the iMac) to the game. Neat!

19. ECO Kitchen

18. Mandal Bedroom

You won’t fall out of touch with nature if you download the Mandal Bedroom set.

It adds a bed with messy covers and a few other minimalistic items that will help your room feel part of the natural world if you get the lighting right.

17. The Laundry

Doing laundry was actually quite an addition for The Sims 4.

But it’s still not possible to make a room that truly feels like a laundry in the game.

That is, until you install this mod for your game.

It adds a whole lot of shelving that you can put in your laundry room to make it feel exactly as it should.

An iron, detergents, soaps, and many other household items are added for you to use.

16. Princess Nursery

If you’re planning on having a baby daughter in The Sims 4, you need to check this mod out right now.

The items in the Princess Nursery are exactly what the name of the mod suggests: new features suited to decorate the room of a little princess!

If you want your little Sim daughter to have a life worthy of royalty, well this should do the trick.

15. Victoria Nursery

Much like the last mod that I’ve reviewed, this one is also an ideal add-on for those who want to decorate a little girl’s room in the game.

However, this one doesn’t fit a princess as much as it does fit a normal baby girl. So maybe it’s a bit more global.

I like the aesthetics of this mod a tad more than the last one, too.

Although it might be down to personal taste, so check both out and decide which one you like more.

14. Wall Grid with String Light

Wall lights are probably one of the easiest ways to make your house a home.

And this mod is fantastic for that purpose.

You will have access to a new decoration with a string light that will illuminate just enough to make your favorite room feel super cozy.

Kind of makes me want to decorate my own room this way!

13. French Teen Room

Looking for a French room style for your teenage girl in The Sims?

Well this mod adds a few types of furniture to the game that will help your teenage girl feel like she’s living the Parisian dream.

Some pretty crazy stuff here for kids, huh?

12. ECO Livingroom

As you can imagine from the name, the ECO Livingroom has the same style as the ECO Kitchen mod.

And both compliment each other extremely well.

They were made by the same person, of course. Sothey both work fantastically to improve the dream home you’ve always wanted.

11. Goldis Bathroom

This one is quite a unique mod, as there definitely aren’t many bathtubs like this.

All of the items have quite a unique aesthetic that combines rose tones with brown ones and make your bathroom look absolutely fantastic.

It may be too fancy for some, but just right for others.

10. Come Cozy

This is an ideal mod to have after the Tiny Living Pack was released.

It allows you to create some absolutely fantastically cozy rooms in very small spaces.

The items you get here come with various styles, which is also great for those of you looking to have a bit of variety added into your décor.

The items just “feel” right, you know? The decorations are on point and the style used by the creator seems to fit the game quite perfectly. It’s a brilliant mod and I love it!

9. iPhone X

Alright, remember when I said that it wouldn’t make sense to add an Apple product to a world that seems to be ruled by Pear?

Well, scrap that.

I think that having the iPhone X in the game is too much of a good option to let it pass.

This is especially true for those who can’t afford it! You might not be able to get your hands on one of these in real life, but that doesn’t mean your Sim should suffer(well, not all the time).

The phone works brilliantly in the game too, as it uses special meshes and textures to light up the screen. Plus it comes with apps that seem to really work for your Sim.

8. Jules

The ideal room for most women can now be added to your Sims game with this amazing bedroom overhaul mod.

You will have access to plenty of the items that many modern women have in their rooms, as well as a bunch of new décors that suits modernity as much as it feels cozy.

New lamps, chairs, and a whole lot of new decorative items. All available for you to select and spice up your sleepy-time room.

7. Young Way Kitchen

Who says that you need a lot of room to create the perfect kitchen?

The creator of this mod begs to differ, as the Young Way Kitchen adds enough items for you to create one of the better-looking minimalistic kitchens that I’ve ever seen in The Sims 4.

Make your kitchen feel like it was taken out of a fantasy book with dozens of new items. Create one of the most beautiful designs that you didn’t know you were capable of by adding in this fantastic(and free) kitchen mod.

6. Christmas Bedroom

This might be intended for you to create a room in a Christmas style, but trust me – it feels just right to have a room like this one throughout the entire year.

The mod adds items that let you create a room with a Nordic feeling, making you dream of the northern lights from the comfort of your new and cozy bed.

Or whatever Christmas-style thing comes to your mind.

With this installed you get a ton of new décors that you’ll be able to place quite freely, and that suit most types of homes.

5. Pacific Heights Bathroom

Modern bathroom mods always seem to fit quite well.

So this one is a mod that I couldn’t let pass.

It lets you create quite a different type of bathroom from what you’re used to seeing in the game, but let me say this: it’s a much better mod if you have enough room in your home to create a large bathroom.

Some of the items that this mod comes with make it ideal for you to build unique stuff in a large space, so I’d suggest you install it if your Sim has already succeeded in life and they’re looking to have an even better home!

4. Thorne Bedroom

This cozy little bedroom mod adds a few items that’ll let you create a fantastic-looking room.

The items make the room look like as if it was taken straight out of those modern magazine catalogs, and I just really like the way it all comes together.

The feeling that this bedroom mod will give you is nothing like the other ones on this list, and I’m certain that you’ll love it.

Small plants, text-rich décor, and many other fantastic additions will make you feel like you’re living the dream of a city monger, especially if you create a room in the City Living map!

3. Melina

Your toddler should always be in touch with nature, just so they don’t forget where we all come from.

Melina is an amazing mod with one of the best aesthetic feelings in the Sims 4 modding community.

It adds a whole lot of new items to the game to help you create the perfect natural room for your child.

The cushions are particularly what sold me on this mod. And if you think they look good in pictures, just wait until you see how cute they are in the game!

2. Calligraphik Bedroom

If you liked the Thorne Bedroom mod from the fourth spot on this list, wait until you check out this Caligraphik Bedroom.

I liked this room even better than Thorne, although both share a similar aesthetic.

Strict Parent Mod Sims 4

Again this might be down to personal preference, but the darker tones here make it look far better in most types of homes in the game.

I particularly enjoy the way the desk looks, as I feel that it fitsright into most homes. Even if you’re not looking to create an entire room with these items, you can get a little something out of this content pack.

1. Juice Blender

Now this mod takes the first spot, even though it’s not an item pack, for a simple reason: it adds a functional juice blender to the game.

That’s right!

This isn’t only a decorative item; it’ll serve as a fantastic addition to the kitchen of any Sim that is looking to improve their home and maybe stay a little healthier.

You will be able to blend your favorite fruits and vegetables and create some delicious juices that’ll keep you healthy and buffed for years.

Parenting is a new skill that your sims can develop that came with The Sims 4: Parenthood game pack. The purpose of this skill is to give your adult sims more options when raising their children and more influence over who they become as adults.

This new skill tries to give you the chance to experience really parenting your sims and you can see actual changes in their personalities and the things they do when they’re set to be autonomous.

It’s going to take a bit of time and a lot of hard work, but disciplining and praising your children can make them grow into really awesome adult sims.

How to Gain The Parenting Skill

The parenting skill is only available to young adults or older and cannot be learned by teens in the game, as there are a few non-child related options for gaining the parenting skill, including reading parenting forums on the computer or reading parenting books that you can purchase.

Most interactions with your children will increase your parenting skill however, just having a conversation with your child will not do much. The most valuable interactions are punishing or encouraging for behaviours, participating in finishing school projects, helping with homework, etc.

You can also purchase a parenting book before your child is born so you can start to prepare your parenting skill in advance so you can have more control over your child’s life.

Parenting Skill Levels

Parenting Skill Level 1

When you first start gaining the parenting skill you are given the ability to encourage your children’s behaviours and ask them not to do things or yell at them to stop doing certain bad behaviours.

Parenting Skill Level 2

When you get to parenting level 2 your sim can now use
“firmly tell not to do” when your young sims do bad things (i.e., painting on the floor). You’ll be given the ability to influence your sims to do their homework, which can be helpful if they don’t do it on their own. And you are also shown a few new options when teaching moments pop up.

Parenting Skill Level 3

At parenting level 3 your sims can now give other sims parenting tips as a friendly interaction, and also help their own children solve motives.

Parenting Skill Level 4

At level 4 of the parenting skill you can start giving your kids and teens a time out for bad behaviour and you’ll also get a new option during teaching moments to see what character values will go up or down during teaching moments.

Parenting Skill Level 5

The best part about reaching level 5 of the parenting skill is that you can now ground children and teens as punishment for painting on the floor or staying out late or doing anything else you might not like. You can also now discuss your children’s bad behaviour with them to help them understand what they’re doing wrong and hug it out when things aren’t going great.

Parenting Skill Level 6

When you hit level 6 of the parenting skill you can now have the option to “find out what is wrong” with your baby sims, meaning you’ll see a bubble above them with exactly what they need so you can solve that need quickly. You also gain the interaction to make other parents feel better.

Parenting Skill Level 7

At the 7th level of the parenting skill you’ll see a higher success rate when you’re trying to influence your offspring to do things. You will also see higher success rate when trying to help your children solve their motives.

Parenting Skill Level 8

When you hit level 8 of the parenting skill you will have much higher success when you’re disciplining your toddlers, children, and teens which can be extremely helpful. You also will be shown a 3rd option during teaching moments.

Parenting Skill Level 9

When your adult sim gets to the 9th level of the parenting skill you’ll be able to see the total impact of all options in teaching moments which can help you guide your children in the right direction. Also, your “influence to” interactions will succeed every single time.

Parenting Skill Level 10

When your adult sim hits level 10 of the parenting skill, you get the ability to go into “Full Parent Mode“. This means that when your sims do a ton of parenting interactions in a row, their needs start decreasing slower so they can take care of their little ones.

You also get to use “Super Efficient Baby Care” which means that with one click you can take care of all your babies needs at one time without having to click on different interactions.

Teaching Moments

A great way to increase your sim’s character values and really test your parenting is to respond to things called teaching moments. These are a pop-up that will appear in game that will let you choose a solution to a situation that your child is experiencing.

When you have a lower parenting skill you won’t have very many good options to choose from but as you grow your skill your options will increase. Although a lot of the solutions seem to be okay, there is never a perfect choice and most of them have a bit of a negative outcome.

When you choose an option your child sim will gain a bit of one character value but will lose a little bit of another value. As you grow your parenting skill you’ll be shown exactly which character values will be impacted by a certain decision, meaning you can knowingly steer your children in one direction or another.

Character Values

When raising sims using The Sims 4: Parenthood, you will have different character values that will influence your child’s future behaviour as they grow up. These are available to see in your Sim’s personality panel right above where you’d see their traits.

The way you raise your sim children will influence these 5 values and the younger your sim the more intense the moves in their character values will be. When your child becomes a young adult, these character values will turn into new traits that can influence their personality.

There are 5 different character values that your sim can gain that include manners, emotional control, responsibility, empathy, and conflict resolution.

Manners

Your sims can increase their manners if they clean up dirty dishes that are around the house, and set the dinner table (which looks so cute!) and you can increase it if you parent teaches you how to say please or thank you. Your child’s manners will see a strong decrease if they do things like burping or farting or going up to strangers and doing a rude greet.

Emotional Control

Your children can increase their emotional control by dealing with their negative emotions. For example, an angry child can go take an angry poop to deal with their emotions. If your sim breaks things and continues to be angry and acts on their bad emotions they will decrease their emotional control.

Responsibility

Your child sims can gain the responsibility value by going to school each day, doing their own homework, or going to work when they’re a teenager. If your child starts going to school or not doing their homework their responsibility will decrease.

Empathy

If you want to increase your sim’s empathy you can purchase the doctor’s kit toy to increase it easily as a child. You can also volunteer your time using your phone as a family. Doing any mean interactions can quickly decrease your empathy.

Conflict Resolution

Your sim’s conflict resolution can be increased if they deal with their negative emotions in a healthier way and don’t throw temper tantrums as they used to as toddlers. You can increase this by apologizing when they do something wrong, or helping other sims fix their negative relationships. If your sims argue with their family members or other sims or get into fights their conflict resolution will go down.

Parenting Success

If you really want to succeed as a parent, there are a couple things you should remember to keep your sims parenting efforts at a high success rate. If your parent is experiencing a negative emotion like tense, embarassed, or angry, they will have a harder time getting their parenting efforts to stick.

It’s also extremely important to make sure your sim has a great relationship with their children if you want the parenting to go well. Having a child who absolutely can’t stand you isn’t the best way to get your child to listen to you.

Becoming a Super Parent

Since the parenting skill came with The Sims 4: Parenthood, we should also discuss the new super parent aspiration that came along with that and is heavily focused around the parenting skill.

Most of the aspiration is quite easy, but you do need to raise a child who has 3 positive character values (i.e., responsibility, manners, empathy, etc). You should be able to finish this aspiration even if you only have one child.

The super parent aspiration gives you the reward trait of being a role model helps you increase positive character values for your children and will make it a whole lot easier for any subsequent children to get positive character value traits.

If you complete this aspiration you’ll be able to gain over 5,000 satisfaction points.
