- Hello, more then a year since last update. And about 3 years since last release...
Anyway here is a new release. It is much more like small patch. Don't expect anything special from it.
It adresses 2 issues:
- Removes borders across graphics.
- Adds new resolution 1280x1024, as now it is a common native resolution of LCD screens
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is a free and open source multiplayer first-person shooter video game set during World War II.It was originally planned to be released as a commercial expansion pack to Return to Castle Wolfenstein and later as a standalone game. However, due to problems with the single-player aspect, the multiplayer portion was released on 29 May 2003 as a freeware standalone game.
- OldVersion.com Points System. When you upload software to oldversion.com you get rewarded by points. For every field that is filled out correctly, points will be rewarded, some fields are optional but the more you provide the more you will get rewarded!
- Don't throw your org. 'Wolfenstein 3d' away, just yet. Depending on if your Mac came with the OS X system software originally or if you had an older system software and upgraded to OS X. The way to play the org. Wolfenstein 3d is to get an older system software like I have and toggle between the two.

- Hi everybody! I'm terribly sorry about the last few versions (level exit bug). The source is that I forget to include newest version of sndlib.dll in distribution pack. Now it is there and the problem must be gone. I also made some compatibility cahanges and now you can run NewWolf under Wine (atleast I could, see screenshot).
Many changes to core engine will be available in the next version, so stay tuned..

- WOW an update...
Thanks to all of you who are interested in my project and write me e-mails/forum messages. I've read it all. I just haven't much time to answer everybody (;
There is no big progress in NewWolf project. I write it when I have time, but the next version (perhaps already with network support) will not be ready earlier then in january. Current version 0.51b fixes some bugs with Windows XP.
- Finaly I've decided to release the source to NewWolf. It can be compiled using MS Visual C++ 6.0 (Service Pack 5 is recommended, but not required). It is distributed under GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE. If you'll make anything of interest with it please let me know!
- FAQ is added.
7/07/2001
- Finaly I've updated this site & NewWolf. Now it has support for shareware version of Wolfenstein3D! It will autodetect your version!
Note: You need Wolf version 1.4 (full or shareware). If you don't have Wolf v1.4 you can download Wolf 1.4 shareware from this site!
Another Note: From now on NewWolf does NOT requires you to put Wolf3D data files to basewgl/data dir. All you have to do is to unzip NewWolf to your Wolf directory. It will not owerwrite any of your Wolf3D files, but it is recommended to create a backup of your Wolf3D just in case.
Note for 3dfx Voodoo 1 and 2 owners: If you can't run NewWolf, you can download an OpenGL library from this site. Simply unzip it to the NewWolf directory. Warning: Do NOT put this file to WindowsSystem directory or you will experience some problems with other software.

31/03/2001
- Project name changed. After a request of other WolfGL project http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/wolfgl author,
so we are 'NewWolf' for now, hope nobody objects it. So long it is a working name as a WolfGL. May be project will be renamed to Wolf4ever some time. After all it definitely not a WolfGL because I want to add a software rendering features to enable people without OpenGL cards to play it on NT and Linux, besides I want to add Direct3D support, so it will be definitely not a WolfGL. If anybody has a good idea, feel free to mail me!
29/03/2001
- New site design. Hope it is better. I do not have much free time to spend on creating good sites.
Wolfenstein For Mac
Wolfenstein 3D | ||||||||
|
- This page is for the MAC game, for other platforms see Wolfenstein 3D.
Wolfenstein 3D is a first-person shooter based off the Apple II game Escape from Castle Wolfenstein. You play B. J. Blazkowicz, a Nazi P.O.W. who must escape from the dreaded Castle Wolfenstein by blasting your way through several levels of Nazis.
The Macintosh port, like the 3DO port, of Wolfenstein 3D has several improvements from the original DOS version. The graphics are much better, especially in the huge bosses, the game features a useful automap, there is a rocket launcher, and resolutions greater than 320x200 are supported. There are also more levels in the Macintosh version: The levels from the console ports and the levels from the DOS version, however, some of the DOS levels have been slightly modified and Otto Giftmacher, Gretel Grosse and General Fettgesicht are replaced with Hans Grosse, Death Knight and Ubermutant. In General Fettgesicht's stage, Hans Grosse and the Death Knight are both the boss which gives them the unfair advantage. Another bad thing is the enemies. All the enemies say are Halt or Halten Sie and the bosses all say Guten Tag where in the DOS version all the enemies had their own phrase. When the enemies die, they make only one screaming sound where in the DOS version they had multiple death sounds. When the bosses die in the Mac version, you only hear them thud to the ground but no death phrase. Also, like the 3DO version, the enemies are always facing you, making it impossible to sneak up on them; a feature that was sorely missed from the DOS version.

Music
The music from the Macintosh port has a much higher quality than the DOS version. It features heavy percussion, electric guitars, and bass. However, there are considerably fewer tracks, and each one is fast-paced. None of the eerie ambiance or military marches are carried over which is a shame. The 3DO version features similar music, but without the ill-fitting electric guitar.
The music was composed as MIDI files but programmed to use different samples rather than the General MIDI tones.

These tracks were ripped from the game using ResEdit (got it from here and here) and then the original instrument patches were replaced with standard to make it playable with General MIDI.
